In the past, we’ve sold that famous, name-brand nut-butter and cocoa spread (you know the one), and even created a private-label version to sell, at one point. Frankly, our customers weren’t as excited about either version. We think the main problem is hazelnuts. No offense to hazelnuts, but they taste too much like… hazelnuts. Knowing that there was likely a better nut-butter and cocoa combination to be had, we went to work tasting: peanut butter with chocolate; chocolate with cashew butter… It wasn’t until we got to almonds that we realized we had the makings of a winner! Trader Joe’s Cocoa Almond Spread is made with a creamy nut-butter made from California almonds. We blend this familiar and favored nut flavor with Belgian cocoa to create a creamy, chocolately, almondy spread. As you might have guessed, this version has been a supreme success since its debut in 2011. Whether you put it on pancakes, scoop it with apple slices, or spread it on a sandwich, we believe you’ll agree our Cocoa Almond Spread is a tried-and-true taste sensation!
